Stutter

I drink a lot of coffee. When I have too much coffee in a day, I get tired, sleepy and I stutter more.

Caffeine increases dopamine levels and research indicates that stutterers may have dopamine levels that are too high in one area of the brain.

Does caffeine worsen your stutter?

Caffeine increases the dopamine level in our brain.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that, in certain parts of the brain, activates the pleasure center.

Caffeine blocks adenosine reception so you feel alert. It injects adrenaline into the system to give you a boost. And it manipulates dopamine production to make you feel good.

There is a research that says people who stutters tend to have too high dopamine level in an area of the brain.

I drink a lot of coffee but I feel that I'm going to stutter regardless.

So might as well live it up!

Coffee is out and out bad news.
In moderation, it does no real harm, but it's one of those things that if we do it at all, we tend to do it too much.
I drink coffee: and I drink it too much, so don''t pay any attention to me :)
I don't think it helps fluency at all, but I can only speak (hehe) for myself.

I think as long as you have your breathing under control you can consume all the caffeine you want.

Sometimes I even speak better when I have a caffeine "buzz" going than when I'm mellowed out.

If you suffer at all from anxiety then you know it doesn't help you speak any better. I quit drinking caffeinated beverages almost two weeks ago and feel much better for it. That is after the headaches went away. :(

The little center if anxiety that was ALWAYS in my stomach is much reduced. :D

I FEEL better and less anxious now.

Your results my differ of course. Try it and see how you feel after a week or two.

You can always go back on the stimulant if you need to.

I can recommend coffee after eating a big or starchy meal. Starchy meals tend to make me veeeeeeeeeeery tired. But coffee counters it and keeps and enables me to continue speaking the same that day.
