Hi all,

I've been feeling really run down for the past couple of weeks and have found my stutter is so much worse than normal. I wouldn't consider myself stutter as really bad normally, but things that I could say fluently before, I know falter on.

Has anyone noticed this with themselves?

Cheers
Mark

Mark,

The same thing happens to me so dont think you are alone on this.

The goods news
is that once you feel
better your speech goes
back to the way it used to be.

Yep, ditto here.

All your bodies energies go into healing itself, and everything else takes second place.

As the bigman says, everything soon falls back into place.

Let us know how you get on....

Add me to that list also. I don't have too much a problem, but yes my stutter does act up somewhat. Maybe also because my mind is focus on the sickness and dreading the feelings of being sick.

Mark,

I guess we all have different feelings or emotions that ignite bad stuttering periods. For me it is when I am very worried about something . . . regardless of what it is. Sometimes I have an uneasy feeling like I am worried about something and I just don't know what it is.

Peace,

Elliott

What about when you are "in a zone"? That is, when everything you touch turns to gold, when you are on a really natural high. How is everybody's speech then?

This can affect me one of two ways.

If I am on a natural high I can be very fluent, feel really good about myself and talk to everyone and everything about anything,
On the other hand if I am too high and over excited my speech goes to pieces as I try and get my words out to explain my excitement.

Yes, I agree with that totally.

Do you reckon that happens with kids a lot, and that is why most of them go through a phase of stammering?

Not that I'm calling you a kid of course - you're far too gone for that :D

Steve,

I think you could have a point there. As us oldies (You included) experience the same feelings, kids must feel it a lot more with the new things that happen in their young lives.

Nick

P.S. I am still a kid at heart.
