I feel sad.
Just now I was woke up by a phone call. It's a business call.
And I stuttered and stuttered badly, while the person waited for what I have to say.
I sounded stupid. I felt disabled.
It's terrible. I hate myself.

Hello. I always feel terrible when I have a bad stuttering episode or am going through a bad period. But the only advice I can give is to forget about it and get on with your life. If I dwell on it too much it just makes me worse.
Theres a saying that I keep in my wallet and always refer to when I'm going through a rough period:
Grant me the courage to change the things I can change, the serenity to accept those I cannot change and the wisdom to know the difference. Grant me the courage to not give up on what I think is right, even though I think it is hopeless.

Thank you Riverman,
It's a terrible feeling only a fellow stutter can understands and relate to. Thanks a lot for your encouragement. I love the saying. I have archived it for reference. Thanks.
Any others who experience the same thing?
How do you deal with, prevent or overcome it?

suddenly waking up and answering a phone does increases my stammering. This is I guess becuase our body is not fully awake. Even for poeple who do not stutter, I have found a few occasions when they do sound incoherent and also stutter. Yes, for a stutter, the amount of stutteing is magnified. I do say 'i was asleep and is feeling a bit sleepy' ,if i stutter more.

Oddly, I'm reasonable ok when the phone wakes me up.
Perhaps because I'm still relaxed from being in a sleeping state (and before anybody asks, I don't know where that is), and I find my voice is more relaxed than normal too.

I don't have a voice when I wake up let alone have fluency. My phone rang this morning and I answered it and I was too confused to say anything lol I didn't even know where I was at one point. I don't really say much to stammer when I wake up I just give yes or no answers.

I let the answering machine get it, and if it's someone I know I pick up. If I do not recognize the voice or the phone number, I do not pick up. As for answering the phone after suddenly waking up, sometimes no, sometimes yes!

No matter how terrible it was, please don't hate yourself!
I understand you, as I sometimes stuttered in moments where it was very undesirable (business conversations, or talking for the first time with a girl I liked). Yes, you feel really sad when that happens, but it's not the end of the world. Moreover, many times you realize that you thought stuttering blew something, but that the reality was very different and that your stuttering didn't actually cause any harm to anything nor your business status, nor nothing.
